Water Quality (Consumer Confidence) Reports
MetCom is proud to present the following Water Quality Reports, to keep you informed about the safety and quality of the drinking water we provide. Our Water Quality Reports, which are also known as our Consumer Confidence Reports (CCRs), are published every year in accordance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's July 1 deadline. The Consumer Confidence Reports (CCRs) provide consumers information about the quality of drinking water in an easy to read format. This report is also known as an annual water quality report or drinking water quality report. The CCR includes information about the water system, water sources, definitions, levels of detected contaminants, water quality compliance/violations, and some educational information.
The St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission’s (MetCom’s) state certified Water Quality Laboratory performs or manages the testing required by state and federal regulations. The drinking water that MetCom supplies meets or exceeds all 120 U.S. EPA standards for drinking water. In addition to regulatory testing, many other analyses are performed to monitor the water quality of the Commission’s raw sources (wells), water within the treatment process, as well as within the distribution system. Water undergoing treatment is monitored pH and disinfectant residuals through a variety of means. The majority of the regulatory and water quality testing performed (which include organic, inorganic, metals, and bacteriological testing) are conducted at MetCom’s laboratory using sophisticated instrumentation.
