MD235 Water Main Southampton to Hermanville Road
Background
The MD235 Water Main Southampton to Hermanville Road project will provide a connection along MD Route 235 to the Southgate Center, a stand-alone water system, with the greater Lexington Park water system. This connection will increase reliability of the southern portion of the Lexington Park water system and alleviate the need for a second well at Southgate. This will also allow a second connection serving the Southampton area. Approximately 800 feet of new 10” C-900 Water Main has already been installed by a cost sharing agreement with the new Dollar General at the corner of Wheeler Road and Three Notch Road.
Project Scope of Work
This project will install approximately 2,000 LF of 10-inch water main along MD235, from the corner of Southampton Drive and Three Notch Road to the corner of Wheeler Road and Three Notch Road. The project will also include 6 Fire Hydrants, Tee’s for future system expansion, and give local homeowners the option to connect. This new main will be constructed on the shoulder of the MD235 right of way. As noted, this project is anticipated to be completed along with the Southampton Infrastructure Improvement Project Phase 1. (Southampton Infrastructure Improvement Project Phase 1)
